Honorable Lewis W. Wetzel
Lewis W. Wetzel attended Meyers High School and Wyoming Seminary. He graduated from Lafayette College in 1965 with further study at Dickinson Law, earning a Juris Doctorate in 1968.
Attorney Wetzel was admitted to the PA Bar in 1968, where he remains a member to the present.
Earlier in his career, Attorney Wetzel had served as a Public Defender, clerked for two Luzerne County judges, and was appointed a Hearing Examiner for the PA Labor Relations Board, as well as having opened a private law practice in Wilkes-Barre.
Attorney Wetzel had also served as counsel for the Luzerne County Housing Authority and the Luzerne County Hospital and Education Authority. He acted as solicitor for the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre International airport, and more recently the Luzerne County Tax Claim Bureau.
Attorney Wetzel became a Title Insurance Agnet in 1973 in conjunction with his law practice. He founded Wetzel Abstract, LLC in 2008 in order toprovide personalized service to the local real estate community and his clients. Upon its inception, his para-legal, Nancy Yenalevitch, and his wife, Veronica Wetzel, who were currently operating a title insurance company in the northern tier counties, Endless Mountain Abstract, collaborated in the effort.
In 2010 Attorney Wetzel was appointed Judge Wetzel to the Court of Common Please for Luzerne County for a two year commitment, requiring him to step away from his title business and law practice. His title insurance company, Wetzel Abstract, LLC was transferred in ownership to his wife, Veronica in a smooth transition until his time as Judge concluded in 2012.
Judge Lewis Wetzel is now senior partner in Wetzel, Phillips, Rodgers and Falcone law Office and has resumed active participation in the title business, until ownership and management of Wetzel Abstract, LLC was assumed by Samuel Falcone, Esq. in 2017. Judge and Mrs. Wetzel as well as Nancy Yenalevitch are still actively involved with the company.
